SRT ConverterConvert caption files, and fix their timingSRT to WebVTT and back, SBV or plain text, one file or many, and captions moved back into time: a shift, a two-point sync or a new frame rate.Free. Works in any browser, on a phone or a computer. What you put here stays on your device.About SRT ConverterWhat it does

Reads SRT, WebVTT and SubViewer (.sbv) files, in UTF-8, UTF-16 or the Windows-1252 that older Windows tools save, and saves UTF-8, which YouTube requires for SRT and SBV.

Writes SRT, WebVTT, SBV, or plain text with or without each line's time.

Keeps italics, bold and underline where the format has them; positions, colours and speaker tags are dropped. On YouTube, that styling shows from WebVTT only: YouTube reads no styling in SRT or SBV.

Converts many files at once and saves them as one ZIP.

Which timing fix for which problem

Every caption early or late by the same amount: a shift.

Right at the start but further off by the end: a two-point sync, from when the first and the last line should start.

Made for a copy of the video at another speed (25 fps against 23.976): a frame rate change.

How to use it

Drop one caption file or many, or paste the captions.

Choose what to convert to, and a timing fix if they need one.

Download each file, or all of them as one ZIP, and upload them to YouTube Studio.

Rules as read on October 3, 2026 from YouTube Help: Supported subtitle and closed caption files, W3C: WebVTT: The Web Video Text Tracks Format (Candidate Recommendation Draft, 20 May 2026).Questions

How do I convert SRT to VTT?

Drop the SRT file, choose WebVTT and download. The words and times stay as they are; the WebVTT header and its escapes are added for you.

Why are my captions out of sync?

If every caption is off by the same amount, shift them. If they drift further off as the video goes on, use a two-point sync. If they were made for a different frame rate, change it.

My accents show as question marks. Can it fix that?

Usually, yes. Files saved by older Windows tools are often Windows-1252; the converter reads them that way and saves UTF-8.

Are my files uploaded?

No. They are read and converted in your browser.
